New this year: Research Integrity workshops<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

We\u2019re introducing a new addition to this year\u2019s program: a series of expert-led Research Integrity workshops<\/strong>. Held in parallel with the afternoon session of the Innovator Fair on 9 December<\/a>, these interactive sessions offer a deeper dive into key topics in research integrity.<\/p>\n

Workshop 1: Forensic Scientometrics: Enhancing Research Integrity and Security for the Scholarly Ecosystem – The Prince’s room\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

This workshop focuses on equipping participants with the tools and knowledge to uphold research integrity and security. Participants will explore the vulnerabilities within the research ecosystem and forensic solutions to prevent and address scholarly manipulation. Through case studies and practical demonstrations, they will learn to use forensic scientometrics and other tools to detect and address issues such as data manipulation and publication fraud. The session emphasises cross-sector collaboration and the role of publishers, institutions, and funders in maintaining scientific transparency and trust. By the end of the workshop, participants will have actionable strategies for securing research practices and contributing to a trustworthy scientific community.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n

Workshop 2: Communication and collaboration with institutions – Council Chamber<\/strong><\/p>\n

Communicating and collaborating with institutions about integrity issues is often a complex and delicate process. Who is the right person to contact, and how can you ensure your message not only reaches them but opens the door to meaningful engagement? What approaches foster timely, constructive responses and how can editors and publishers work with institutions to jointly resolve concerns and strengthen shared practices? In this workshop, participants will learn from colleagues with extensive experience navigating these challenges, explore a range of practical tactics and strategies, and exchange approaches for building productive relationships with institutions. Together, we will look at what has worked, what has not, and how deeper collaboration can support the shared goal of safeguarding integrity in scholarly publishing.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n

Workshop 3: Helping your editors and reviewers understand research integrity issues – Worcester room<\/strong><\/p>\n

Editors and reviewers play a crucial role in identifying and responding to potential integrity issues during manuscript review. Still, they may not always be aware of all issues involved, including the latest trends and developments. This workshop will provide research integrity professionals with practical guidance on how to support journal editors and peer reviewers in this important area. Starting with comments from an expert panel, we will move to interactive polling and group discussion, surfacing the challenges and discussing strategies. We will discover what each of us knows and what each of us doesn\u2019t know, and the result will be a better understanding of how we can all support the researcher. A written summary will be provided following the session<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n

These workshops are intentionally structured for live, small-group interaction, to allow open dialogue among participants and facilitators. Because of this format, they aren\u2019t being recorded or shared afterward. If you can’t join us in person this time, we hope to see you at another one of our events in the future!<\/em><\/p>\n
