The EU Commission released three key documents last month for the implementation of the EU AI Act\u2019s rules for providers of general-purpose AI models, related to the obligations that took effect on 2 August:<\/p>\n

    \n
  1. The\u00a0Code of Practice<\/a>\u00a0outlines voluntary measures regarding transparency, copyright and safety and security.<\/li>\n
  2. These\u00a0guidelines<\/a>\u00a0clarify the scope\u00a0of the definition and obligations of providers.<\/li>\n
  3. The standardised\u00a0template<\/a>\u00a0provides a summary of training content, which will help ensure compliance and support copyright holders in exercising their rights.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    Despite the extensive feedback offered by STM and other rightsholders throughout the (often untransparent) drafting process, the outcomes don\u2019t fully reflect the concerns raised and lack ambition.\u00a0STM joined a coalition<\/a>\u00a0of authors and rights holders to express disappointment and call for a meaningful enforcement of the AI Act. We\u2019re analysing the combined implications of these instruments and will be open to discussions with our members.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
