New format: <\/span><\/b>The session opens with a short panel featuring three experts, each representing a core area of publisher value. After the opening discussion, we move into a Gallery walk \u2014 attendees split into three groups and rotate through facilitated stations where each panellist leads a deeper dive into their topic with a brief presentation and open Q&A. As AI-generated submissions proliferate and paper mills grow more sophisticated, publisher\u00a0<\/span>expertise<\/span>\u00a0in quality assurance and integrity infrastructure becomes more critical, not less. This session will explore Europe\u2019s emerging flagship initiative in AI\u2011driven research\u2014the\u00a0<\/span>Resource for AI Science in Europe (RAISE)<\/span><\/b>\u2014and examine how it aligns with and diverges from the United States\u2019 strategic efforts in AI for scientific discovery, including the\u00a0<\/span>Genesis mission<\/span><\/b>.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

RAISE is conceived as a\u00a0<\/span>virtual European institute<\/span><\/i>\u00a0designed to coordinate and pool AI\u2011related resources across the continent. Built around key pillars\u2014including\u00a0<\/span>compute infrastructure (EuroHPC, AI Factories)<\/span><\/b>,\u00a0<\/span>high\u2011quality data ecosystems (EOSC, Common Data Spaces, Data Labs)<\/span><\/b>, and\u00a0<\/span>excellence networks for talent and research<\/span><\/b>\u2014RAISE aims to strengthen Europe\u2019s scientific competitiveness, reduce fragmentation, and ensure that AI adoption in research remains\u00a0<\/span>ethical, transparent, and human\u2011centric<\/span><\/i>. By offering coordinated access to supercomputing, federated datasets, and AI\u2011ready research environments, RAISE\u00a0seeks\u00a0to accelerate scientific discovery and support researchers across all disciplines.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Navigating uncertainty: Funding volatility, policy shifts, and their impact on scholarly publishing <\/span><\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Funding volatility, policy uncertainty, and shifting patterns in research output and scholarly engagement are no longer theoretical risks\u2014they are reshaping the global research ecosystem in real time.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

In Spring 2025, Delta Think\u00a0convened\u00a0approximately 30 participating organizations and surveyed more than 13,000 researchers across 135 countries to\u00a0establish\u00a0a baseline understanding of the impacts of recent U.S. policy and funding changes. The study was repeated in Fall 2025, enabling early comparisons and the identification of emerging trendlines across disciplines and regions.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

This session will present key findings from the research, highlighting where researcher sentiment\u00a0appears to be\u00a0stabilizing, where risks\u00a0remain\u00a0elevated, and which pressures are proving persistent versus temporary. Speakers will examine how these dynamics are influencing publishing behavior, conference participation, and institutional decision-making.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Moving from data to action, panelists will discuss how their organizations are using these insights to inform strategic planning, risk management, and community engagement in an increasingly volatile environment. The session will conclude with an interactive discussion, inviting participants to share their own experiences and perspectives on navigating funding uncertainty and policy change.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
